Fireman

Last year around Halloween, I decided I wanted to try and make Will's costume for this year.  Well, I waited around until the last minute, but I got it done before Halloween.

Will is enamored with firemen.  Anytime we drive by a fire station, he checks to see if the doors are open and if he can see a fire truck.  We've made cookies for firemen, been to visit a station here in town, and even got a personal tour by Will's great Uncle Jack who is a real live fireman! So, I knew that's what he needed to be for Halloween.

I used a McCall's pattern (M6222).  It was for a long-sleeve button down shirt and cargo pants.  The hubby found an orange vest at Wal-Mart that I cut into strips and added to the shirt and pants.  It was also the hubs idea to put his name on in velcro so that when little brother is big enough to wear it, we can just switch it out! We had a Junior Fireman's badge sticker we got when we took cookies to the firemen, so I just sewed it on to look like a real badge.

Will was pretty excited about it - so it made it all worth it! I loved it when he told people, "I'm a fireman! My mommy made it!"
